About Melody
Melody Joy Overstreet is a Poet, Artist, Weaver, and Storyteller based in a floodplain along the coast of California. Her work has been exhibited locally as well as internationally, and is featured in numerous publications including Loam, For the Wild, Seed Broadcast, The Freshwater Review, and The Philosopher. She has participated in residencies with The Siena Art Institute, Casa Regis and The Center for Culture and Contemporary Art, and The On Being Project, among others.
Melody is the author and illustrator of Water’s Song, a children’s book centered around the sacred teachings of water. In addition, Melody is the author of Reverberations, a book of place-based poems published in tandem with Reciprocal Field Press and Community Printers. In addition to her work as an artist and writer, Melody is a teacher of nature and works with children to steward the Earth. She is the recipient of a Community Engagement Grant, a Gemological Award, and a Peace Studio Fellowship for her work at the intersection of art, teaching, and land stewardship.
